FRED HAMMOND and Dr. Keshia Gaines- Black History Month

FRED HAMMOND is an American Grammy Award–winning gospel recording artist, bass guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, and pioneer of contemporary gospel music whose career has spanned over four decades. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he first gained recognition playing bass for The Winans and as a founding member of the influential gospel group Commissioned, helping shape the sound of urban contemporary gospel. As a solo artist and leader of Fred Hammond & Radical for Christ, he released chart-topping albums like Pages of Life: Chapters I & II — a double platinum project that dominated the Billboard Gospel Charts — and countless others that reached No. 1. Hammond has earned multiple Grammy, Stellar, Dove, BET, and NAACP Image Awards, reflecting his versatility as both an artist and producer. He also founded Face to Face Productions and the F. Hammond Music Label, producing and mentoring numerous projects and helping popularize “urban praise & worship” as a mainstream genre. Hammond’s music — known for its blend of gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and soul — has influenced worship experiences in churches nationwide and across generations.
