MERCEDES MONE' and Dr. Keshia Gaines- Black History Month

MERCEDES MONE' a.k.a. "Sasha Banks" (Mercedes Justine Kaestner Varnado) is an American professional wrestler and entertainer who has achieved historic success across major wrestling promotions worldwide. She first rose to prominence in WWE under the ring name "Sasha Banks", where she became one of the most decorated women in the company’s history, winning multiple Raw and SmackDown women’s championships, three women’s tag titles, and the NXT Women’s Championship, and helping to break barriers such as being one of the first women to headline major events and match types traditionally dominated by men. After leaving WWE in 2022, she reinvented herself as "Mercedes Moné" and continued to make history by winning top titles in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), and All Elite Wrestling (AEW), becoming the only woman to win championships across all four major promotions. In AEW she captured the TBS Championship in her debut and held it for a record-long reign, and by late 2025 she held an unprecedented number of simultaneous titles, surpassing longstanding records and elevating women’s wrestling on a global scale. Moné has also been recognized with awards such as Pro Wrestling Illustrated Woman of the Year and Sports Illustrated Wrestler of the Year, reflecting her excellence and influence in the sport. Beyond the ring, she has expanded into acting and entrepreneurial ventures, further amplifying her platform and reach. As a national influencer, Mercedes Moné has reshaped the perception of female wrestlers, inspired a generation of performers, and helped advance women’s roles in professional wrestling through historic achievements and boundary-breaking performances.
