MRS. VICKI MACK LATAILLADE and Dr. Keshia Gaines- Black History Month

MRS. VICKI MACK LATAILLADE is a highly influential American record industry executive, entrepreneur, and pioneer in gospel music, best known for founding and leading GospoCentric Records, which was named the No. 1 gospel label in America by Billboard and achieved over $30 million in record sales. She started her career in the industry in the 1970's — including an internship at RCA and leadership roles in marketing and promotion at major labels — before launching GospoCentric in 1992 and turning it into the most successful independent gospel label in the world. Under her leadership, the label signed and developed some of gospel music’s biggest stars, including Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Byron Cage, J. Moss, and many others, reshaping mainstream gospel and contemporary Christian music. Her work helped gospel music expand beyond church audiences into broader markets, and GospoCentric’s success played a key role in gospel crossing over into urban and secular charts. Mrs. Lataillade also founded Lilly Mack Publishing, building a catalog of over 1,200 songs by prominent artists, and was instrumental in major business deals, including the sale of GospoCentric to the Sony/BMG-affiliated Zomba Label Group. Beyond record sales, Vickie has been honored with lifetime achievement awards for her contributions to African American music and serves as a role model for women and Black executives in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Her influence as a national music executive and innovator helped shape the modern gospel landscape, making her a respected figure and national influencer in both music business and gospel culture. Stay tuned to our "African-American Influencers" series on all social media platforms during February!
