SAMMIE (Sammie Lee Bush, Jr.), known professionally as "Sammie", is an American R&B singer and songwriter who first rose to prominence as a teenage music sensation with his breakout 1999 hit “I Like It” from his debut album From the Bottom to the Top — a single that reached No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold. He began performing at a young age, winning on Showtime at the Apollo in 1998, which helped launch his music career. After a brief hiatus to finish school, Sammie returned with his self-titled second album in 2006 and continued releasing music including several albums, EPs, and mixtapes that showcased his evolution as an artist. In 2008, he gained wider recognition by featuring on Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Thru the Phone,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, introducing his voice to another generation of listeners. Sammie has also worked as a songwriter, co-writing music for other artists. Beyond music, he has toured extensively — including The Everlasting Tour and The Millennium Tour. Sammie’s long career has made him a national influencer in R&B music, inspiring other artists and fans with his vocal talent, resilience in the industry, and ability to evolve his sound over decades.
