"SCOLA" FROM DRU HILL and Dr. Keshia Gaines- Black History Month

"SCOLA" FROM DRU HILL (Rufus “Scola” Waller) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, musician, and recording artist best known for his work as a member of the multi-platinum R&B group Dru Hill. He joined Dru Hill in 2002 as the fifth member and contributed significantly as a lead vocalist and songwriter on songs such as “I Love You,” “Old Love,” and “I Should Be…” on the group’s Dru World Order album. Before and after his time in the group, Scola also pursued a solo career, releasing his own music including a solo R&B album (From EA To Cali) and singles that showcased his vocal range and artistic versatility. His work helped extend Dru Hill’s legacy into the 2000s and beyond, contributing to the group’s continued relevance in contemporary R&B and soul music. Dru Hill itself is celebrated for its chart-topping hits and lasting influence on modern R&B, soul, and urban music, with the group selling millions of records worldwide and receiving honors such as the Urban Music Icon Award at Black Music Honors. Scola is considered part of a nationally influential R&B ensemble whose music has shaped the genre’s sound and cultural reach nationally and internationally.
