"WOODY" FROM DRU HILL and Dr. Keshia Gaines- Black History Month

"WOODY" FROM DRU HILL (Warren Fields), is an American singer best known as the original lead vocalist of the R&B group Dru Hill, one of the most influential groups of the late 1990s. As a founding member, his distinctive, gritty vocal style helped define Dru Hill’s sound on early hits like “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” and “5 Steps.” Dru Hill achieved multi-platinum success, becoming a major force in contemporary R&B and influencing countless artists in the genre. After leaving the group, Woody pursued a solo career in gospel music, releasing songs that reflected his personal growth and life experiences. In recent years, he reunited with Dru Hill, reconnecting with longtime fans and introducing the group’s legacy to a new generation. Woody is considered a national influencer because of his lasting impact on R&B music, his role in shaping a signature sound of an era, and his continued visibility through touring, media appearances, and cultural influence across the United States. Stay tuned to our "African-American Influencers" series on all social media platforms during February.
